Part of providing Total Care is ensuring all our patient's visual needs are being met. Since we have two eyes, it is important they work together as a team.
About 15% of the general population suffers from binocular vision problems. These problems and complaints are sometimes complex and often overlooked. Primary Eye Care is committed to diagnosing and treating binocular vision problems.
Vision, as are other abilities, is learned. The idea that vision is learned and can be taught at any age forms the basis for a form of treatment that is referred to as VISION REHABILITATION (also known as orthoptics or vision training). Vision rehabilitation is a process during which patients are given instruction and feedback that teaches them to develop or enhance their visual abilities.
"The eyes have two muscle systems which must work together, just like a camera. One aims at a target and the other focuses on the target. When these two systems are not coordinated they fatigue, the result can be eye strain, headaches, and blurred or double vision. To eliminate these symptoms, vision therapy brings these muscle systems, which are normally not under voluntary control, to voluntary control. Therapy re-educates the muscle systems to work more effectively.
